Friday we sort toys. When Caitlin and Joshua were little I tried to get them to put the toys "where they belong". Soon we settled on just "put them away the best you can" and then I helped them sort them once in awhile. Now it is our Friday room chore...and the most neglected. It isn't needed as often because they can put their toys away where they belong and are getting better at it all the time. We still do it though - just not inspected as often as the rest of the chores.
The most important part of the chores are not really the chores themselves but the habit of doing daily chores. We worked for a couple years on getting up, making beds and getting dressed and now they do it without thinking. That is the blessing of habits.
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

Thanks for adding that last paragraph about the blessing of habits! With my older son, we're still very much at the "get dressed and make beds" stage of life...which occasionally feels like it will never end! :) It's encouraging to see that all the effort on the front end pays off later.
