I had to call my sister for some baking help but while we were talking Caitlin and Joshua were just determined to roll out and cut gingerbread people. They only used part of the dough - and they were kind of rough looking. But - the taste was delicious and they thought decorating loads of fun.
Sometimes I just need to relax and follow the lead of my children. They didn't care that the dough wasn't perfect -or that the cookies weren't smooth -or that we were using frosting from another project that never got completed -or that the kitchen was a disaster. They just enjoyed the moment, the smells, the sweetness of the frosting and the fun. Then they were done and off playing - mission accomplished: memory made.
May your deeds be shown to your servants,
Your splendor to their children.
May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us;
May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands.
~Psalm 90:16-17
