This is always the fun part of family celebrations - getting a nice group photo. (It makes me very grateful for digital cameras!) Sometimes I'll take a video of the adults trying to take photos of the children. It is very entertaining. :-)
At this year's celebration the littlest cousin had a fever. His fever rose very quickly and while he was taking a nap on his grandma's lap he suddenly jerked his body straight and frightened us all. Instantly we could tell he was having a seizure. The rest of the celebration took on a whole different mood...and meaning.
An afternoon of ER, prayers, tears and waiting for answers took the place of the fun, pageantry, laughs and new gifts. All of a sudden the gift of life and the fragilness of it filled our hearts and minds.
But, God is good.
When the the rest of the kids came in from outside and everyone was worried we sent the cousins upstairs to pray for the littlest cousin. We could hear their prayers in the loft. Just at the end of the prayers the phone rang - he came out of it and was breathing fine.
The answered prayers of children, renewed hope and an auntie's heart could start beating again.
Yes, God is good.
Our family's Christmas celebration was not only a day to celebrate the One who came to give us eternal LIFE but also the lives of those He gives us each day to love.
In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.
~Job 12:10
