Memorial Day Weekend

Since we were in Alexandria for the first part of Memorial Day weekend we decided to attend the flag raising at Fort Alexandria near the Runestone Museum. An 1863 flag was raised by a Civil War re-enactor.

We found out this weekend that Caitlin and Joshua had seven great-great-great uncles that served in the Civil War.

Listening to Taps was a very emotional experience knowing that there are men and women serving us right now. We have so much to be thankful for.

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
