Birds in Spring

In Spring our attentions naturally turn towards the birds. Seeing the birds that were here for the winter are just as exciting as noticing the new ones. Joshua and Caitlin have picked up the habit of grabbing a bird book and binoculars before leaving on a car trip. Most of the time they look for birds they already know and have been waiting for their return.

Of course when we first spotted the first wren of the season we called it "Jenny Wren" and her husband. And the rabbit that lives in our yard (and ate all our tulips I may add) is Peter. We enjoy the Burgess Bird Book for Children and find that it spills over into our own little woods and vocabulary.

The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches.
-Psalm 104:12
