Homemade Hotdog Buns

The cousins were coming for the day and the kids wanted hotdogs for lunch. In our small city we don't often have organic buns so we decided to make our own.

Caitlin and Joshua worked on a little piece of waxed paper with a guide underneath so they would have consistant sized buns. It worked very nicely.

They worked so carefully and were so proud of their work they wanted to remember which buns they made.

Off to rise again and bake. YUM! We will make these again. Next time we will try the whole wheat dough and then decide which recipe goes into our Family Favorites notebook.

I love the pictures and what a fun thing to do with the kids. Andrew loves to help me bake/cook.

Would you share more about your family recipe book?

Theresa,
Our Family Favorites notebook is a binder with page protectors in which we keep our favorite recipes.

When we try a new recipe we decide if we are going to make it again. If we really like it I type it up and add it to our notebook.

Our goal is to have a resource of recipes now and to make a copy of the notebooks for Caitlin and Joshua when they leave home so they have a great start in their own kitchens with recipes they know how to make and love. (And are hopefully healthy! lol)

Nothing is organized into catagories yet. I'll let the children do that for a homeschool project one day when they are older. :)

Thanks Lisa. I'm printing out recipe's also but haven't gotten them organized beyond a basket in the kitchen at this point.

Have a great weekend!
