Caitlin thought every tree was perfect. I'm a bit more picky. I like the "Charlie Brown" kind of trees that you and see through. Some of them are so thick. (This one is pretty thick too but nothing a bit of trimming with a garden tool won't take care of.)
Joshua was determined to cut the tree down this year by himself. He got really close. Dad helped him with the very last bit. Next year, he promises, he will do it all himself.
Since it was Grandma's first time tree hunting with us the kids had to show her the reindeer. One of whom is named "Kringle". The kids love that.
And of course a bit of silliness. Then inside to pay for our tree, have some hot cider and find some yummy homemade candy to buy. Then we throw the tree inside the van (to enjoy the smell - and for the challenge of vacuuming balsam needles for another year) and head back home.
It's a tradition.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them.
Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy.
~Psalm 96:12
